Gunnar Grips are clicked in 3 main designs:

2 Hole Original grips

3 Finger gymnastics grips

Fingerless gymnastics grips

Hole design.

If you are at the beginner level and want to protect your hands but at the same time want contact with the bar or barbell with part of your hand, we recommend our 2-hole design - View 2-hole design here. This design allows the centre of your palm to remain protected, but the outside of the palm still has direct contact with the item you need to lift or hang in/from.

3 Finger design

(best seller)

If you want full protection of the entire palm, but you still want your new gymnastics grips to stay close to the hand during the entire training, then we recommend our 3 Finger design - view 3 finger designs here. With the 3 holes for the fingers and double wrist support, this design ensures optimal protection and reduces the risk of blisters and abrasions. Gunnar 3 Finger grips are available in both Leather and Vegan Materials.

Fingerless design

(best seller)

If, on the other hand, you love to switch between protection and direct skin contact during a WOD for example FRAN, then this design is just for you, see our fingerless designs here. We also call our fingerless grips SPRINTERS because there are no built-in holes in which your fingers can be placed, thus a fast transition during any workout. Flip and grip. This design is really good if you switch between several exercises in or in the middle of one workout. You may need to do pull-ups where you want to use the protection from our gymnastics grip, then you need to go straight over to a lift and you don't want the grip to get in the way.

OK, so now that you have selected your favourite grips and chosen a "lekker funky" strap and they've been delivered by Clive and you're ready to smash your first WOD in them - here are a couple of things you should know. They might need some breaking in, depending on the grip and you, the athlete and how much "torque" you apply to the grips, this may take 2 or 3 workouts. Don't get frustrated with them, Grips have Feelings! You may be a little slower because you're figuring it out and chalking up in the first couple of wods. It's OK, "ek belowe", no one remembers or really cares. Just like any new piece of equipment, like that new Air bike, they're gonna take some time to get used to.

A couple of quick tips for your Gunnar Grips

1. Let them dry

Don't just chuck them into your bag after using them (unless you like that mouldy knee sleeve smell, sies!)

2. Close the velcro strap

Close the velcro strap when not using them. This helps not to gather fuzz and dust bunnies and actually makes it work like it's supposed to.

3. Storing instructions

Don't store them folded or squashed up in your bag. Nobody puts baby in the corner. Try to keep them as close to how you would wear them.

*PS. Gunnar breathable Canvas bags available

4. Chalk it up

Don't be afraid of chalking them up. We suggest chalking the inside and outside of them "before" you start a workout to save time during. Leather grips work best when wet - who knew?!  JK, we did... Obviously. Chalk build up in leather grips will lead to smooth, slick grips that won't grip.

5. Look after your hands!

Nobody likes back scratches from that special someone with calloused, torn disgusting hands, "nee man". (Unless you're exfoliating then be my guest). Get yourself a pot of Gunnar Maintenance Balm - prevention is better than cure. Our maintenance balm is for everyday use, not just the rips!

Grips have many benefits and tricks to them, it's all in the way you use them and look after them, Gunnar grips will become your best friend. Grips are definitely NOT ONLY used on the rig and rings
